ProDec arrives in North America - this is how we roll

Like many explorers before us, we have planted our flag and are ready to chart new lands. It’s been a long time coming – a century, it could be argued – but we’re truly glad to have arrived in North America. And although the ProDec brand is new to the market here, our roots in painting run deep.

ProDec is part of Rodo Ltd, an independently run, fourth-generation family business based in Manchester, UK. Founded in 1926, what initially began as a small brush and broom supplier to northern England’s textile industry has evolved into a market-leading paint applicators distributor.

Today, Rodo operates from two sites in Manchester covering over 150,000 square feet, employs more than 150 people and is the largest supplier of trade applicators and sundry painting tools in the UK and Ireland, supported by a diverse, multi-brand portfolio.

A business doesn’t last 100 years by standing still, and from early on we have always moved and adapted with the times. In the post-WW2 years, Rodo recognised both the growing interest in interior design and advances in paint technology and used its brush-making expertise to pivot to the development and production of consumer painting tools, which remains our primary focus today.

The rise of latex paints in the 1950s and 60s saw demand grow, and we added roller covers, sundry tools, drop cloths and eventually painters’ clothing. The ProDec brand itself was created in the 1980s and as the company’s main trade applicator brand, it remains at the heart of the business.

Built on decades of manufacturing expertise, product knowledge and market insight, our range includes innovative tools that have been developed to deliver genuine performance advantages.

From reshaping paintbrush filaments for smoother strokes to developing roller fabrics that rival a spray finish, we have unique products that enable professionals to work better, faster or both and which we believe are well suited to North American markets.

We recognise that in the hands of a craftsman, the right paint applicators are more than just tools – they deliver an expert finish, build trust and help turn budding projects into a grand reality.

And this philosophy was a key factor in us ensuring the groundwork was laid before entering the market: our products have been rigorously tested by painters using local paints in local conditions across the length and breadth of North America, and we’re excited by the feedback they gave us.

Our expansion into North America is both a new beginning and the continuation of a 100-year strategy – listen to the market, invest in innovation and grow through quality products, partnership with customers and an entrepreneurial drive that goes all the way back to our founder.

We’re glad to be here and we hope you’ll want to try our products and let us know what you think.

If we’re fortunate enough to meet you, we’ll probably do the British thing and offer you a cup of tea over a chat. In the meantime, why not follow us on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok for all upcoming developments and info around availability.

If you are a dealer interested in working in partnership with us to sell our range, please get in touch. We’d love to chat!
